  • 特殊教育 for Certified Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary Teachers

    Are you interested in acquiring new skills for working with your special education 学生?

    This 程序 is designed to help general educators more effectively work with 学生 有特殊需要的人士. Participants will learn about assessments for special education 学生, analysis of data, curriculum design and adaptation, and planning for differentiation.

    Program Options Available for:

    M.ED. 学位要求

    This 37-credit graduate 程序 consists of 15 credits taken from the core courses, 10 credits in the specialization area, six credits in clinical courses, three credits in action research, and three credits taken from the elective courses in the master’s 程序.

    In addition to completing the coursework, candidates must submit passing Praxis II scores (Content Area and Knowledge) prior to certificate completion.

    1. 学习er Development and Individual 学习ing Differences: Beginning special education professionals understand how 除外 may interact with development and learning and use this knowledge to provide meaningful and challenging learning experiences for individuals with 除外.
    2. 学习ing Environments: Beginning special education professional create safe, inclusive, culturally responsive learning environments so that individuals with 除外 become active and effective learners and develop emotional well-being, positive social interactions, and self-determination.
    3. Curricular Content Knowledge: Beginning special education professionals use knowledge of general and specialized curricula to individualize learning for individuals with 除外.
    4. Assessment: Beginning special education professionals use multiple methods of assessment and data-sources in making educational decisions.
    5. Instructional Planning and Strategies: Beginning special education professionals select, adapt, and use a repertoire of evidence-based instructional strategies to advance learning of individuals with 除外.
    6. Professional 学习ing and Ethical Practice: Beginning special educational professionals use foundational knowledge of the field and their professional Ethical Principles and Practice Standards to inform special education practice, to engage in lifelong learning, and to advance the profession.
    7. Collaboration: Beginning special education professionals collaborate with families, other educators, related service providers, individuals with 除外, and personnel from community agencies in culturally responsive ways to address the needs of individuals with 除外 across a range of learning experiences.
